One of the main things on my Sephora VIB sale wishlist was the Viseart Golden Hour eyeshadow palette. I had only previously owned the Neutral Matte palette and absolutely adored it so when I saw them come out with a new palette at an affordable price, I decided to patiently wait for the sale to snag it at an additional discount. This palette comes housed in a beautiful golden tin with felt rubber housing the back of it (think NARS). I think the size is perfect: its not too big but not too small. It comes with a decent sized mirror that would be great to use when traveling and/or applying makeup.
The palette consists of 4 matte shades and 5 shimmer shades. I think the matte shades were perfectly thought out: you’ve got a nice brow bone shade, a crease color, and you can play up a smoky eye with the black and red shades. The shimmers give you the ability to create a smoky or every day eye, depending on the shades you choose to pair together.
This has been the second palette that I have recently owned that swatches with pure pigment through and through. Every shade was beautifully swatched without having to go over it or without feeling the shadow underperformed. I know that swatches don’t say enough when it comes to how an eyeshadow palette can perform, so I wore it out the other day to get a true feel of how the shadows wear.
I used my trusty NARS eye primer to prevent creasing, etc. and then set with the lightest color. This isn’t always my favorite thing to do, but I wanted to test the palette on its own. Palettes hardly ever provide a shadow that I can use as an all over lid that matches perfectly with my skin tone – they are all too light. I won’t fault that to Viseart because I know its hard to cater to all.
The shadows were easy to blend using my Morphe, MAC, and Sephora brand crease brushes. I used a shimmer shade with my MAC 239. The shadows stayed put for about 8 hours before I saw minimal, if any, decrease in color. I am so happy to have picked this shadow palette up and cannot wait to continue using it and create different looks with it.
Did you pick up the Golden Hour eyeshadow palette? What do you think of it? Let me know! Thank you so much for reading!
