My Detailed Travel Makeup Bag – November 2017

I’ll be on my way to Houston, Texas by the time you read this post and one of my favorite things to do when traveling is sorting out my travel makeup bag. I actually like to do this before I even begin packing which is the weirdest thing since I should probably try to coordinate my makeup with the clothes I’ve picked out but nope! I do the opposite. I just find it so fun to pick out things I’m going to be using wherever I go. I’ve had situations where my destination allowed me to bring lots of options (cruising) and I’ve also had situations that made me really condense my bag (Puerto Rico and my niece – who put me on a limit).I’m really only going for two days and wanted to fit everything into my newest purchase from the vib sale – my license to leopard makeup bag. Now this bag actually fits a lot of stuff in it but I only wanted to bring one thing from each category so that I wouldn’t have to be there thinking about what to use — except for lipstick! I need my options there! lol

I decided that I would bring along three tried and true items in my stash:

YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer
Fenty Beauty Foundation
NARS Soft Matte Complete concealer.

These items have been in my everyday routine since the summer and are still going strong. This concealer was also a tad light at one point but has since been better and I’m back to using it.

Setting powder: Becca Soft Light Blur Powder

I wasn’t sure which to bring with me: the pink haze or the golden hour. I now own both of these powders and if I’m completely honest with you: I almost considered decluttering the first one I got – golden hour, because it just looked so dry on the skin. Then I went and picked up an elf highlight brush (which is SO soft, by the way) and decided that instead of trying to set my undereye and t-zone, I would instead lightly dust it on. WOW! Talk about 180… I now love it enough that I purchased pink haze which is beautiful as well. In the end I brought golden hour.

For bronzer, blush, and highlight:

Charlotte Tilbury Contour Wand in Medium/Dark
NARS Almeria blush
Charlotte Tilbury Highlight Wand
Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow

I will have a blog post up soon on my birthday splurge – which includes the Charlotte Tilbury items. Let’s just say that I am obsessed with them from pigment to ease of application to how they looked on the skin. I can’t wait to share my complete thoughts with you!

For eyes: I brought along my Kevyn Aucoin eyelash curler, Anastasia Brow definer, Chanel Espresso and Noir Intense eyeliners, and several mascara options: Lancome Cils Booster mascara primer, Definicils mascara, Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes, and YSL The Shock — I don’t EVER have more than one mascara open at a time but I figured that since I had them all open i’d bring them all. I’m usually not a fan of layering mascaras but since I’ve experienced lash growth via Grande Lash-MD, Ive begun to layer them. I also brought along my new Maybelline x Gigi Hadid eyeliner.

I had a lot of thinking to do when it came to eyeshadow, but after using it on my eyes on my birthday I knew that i HAD to bring it with me along with two cream eyeshadow options:

Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette in The Dolce Vita
Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerize in Bette
Natasha Denona Chroma Crystal Top Coat in Nude

Again, some of these were birthday splurges so I don’t want to talk too much about them until I post my thoughts in my future blog post.

Ahh, lips. This is the only category I brought more than one option (except for mascara, I don’t really count that). I always want a nude, a red, and a deep with me.

MAC Stripdown Lip Pencil
Hourglass Lip Stylo in Futurist
MAC Beet Lip pencil
Stila Liquid lipsticks in Feiry & Rubino
MAC Currant Lip Pencil
Charlotte Tilbury Glastonberry lipstick

I feel like you can really play up a look with different shades of lipstick. They can make your overall look, look vampy, festive, or just glam. I feel like I did great with my picks. I would have normally taken 3 shadow palettes, 3 blushes, 6 lipsticks, etc. Even though my makeup collection is big (to me) I’ve rotated through the products enough to know what will work and what I rather experiment with and use at home.

What are your travel makeup ride or dies? Let me know! Thank you so much for reading this didnt-really-need-to-be-this-long post. Have a great day!
