Glitter Shadow: Yay or Nay?

Over the course of the past few months I’ve picked up quite a few glitter/glimmer shadows. I wasn’t always into them, but I swatched a few at Ulta and thought “wow, these would look gorgeous on a night out!” and so I picked some up.

I have two different glitter type shadows to show you. They aren’t quite the same, but they have the same purpose: bringing some attention to your eyelids. I know it gets annoying to hear, but this is the time of year where I really get to experiment with these types of makeup items. Using them at work parties, dinners, family get togethers, etc. There are just more opportunities during the holidays to sport these, at least when it comes to myself.

The first set of eyeshadows are the Stila Glitter and Glow eyeshadows. I have them in 3 shades: Kitten Karma, In a Firenze, and Rose Gold Retro. I was fascinated with these and have used them a handful of times now. I must admit though, you do need some tacky glue (Too Faced glitter glue is what I use) in order to prevent fall out. Still, I find bits of glitter on my face after a couple of hours of wear. These were initially my favorite, but I now prefer the second option i have.

The Butter London Glazen Eye Glosses are stellar! They have a jelly-like consistency which I prefer to apply with fingers. I have used these in conjunction with some of my favorite palettes and using normal eye primer (NARS) and had no issues with fallout. I believe these do not contain glitter since the consistency is thin and shiny.

I’ve found myself reaching more for the Butter London over time. They are easier to apply even though you need your fingers for application. Stila recently released their new Glimmer and Glow eyeshadows which will probably have the same consistency as the BL. I was able to play with them at Sephora and they feel SO much better than their older formula.

If these are too high of a pricepoint: Colourpop recently released their version via the SuperNova Liquid shadows! They currently only have 5 shades but they look pretty promising. These too, look like they are more of a sans glitter consistency, however I have seen reviews that these don’t have the fallout the Still do.

*I am updating this post to report that I did pick up all of the Colourpop supernova shadows and absolutely love them! However, the Butter London continue to be my absolute favorite!

What do you prefer? Glitter or glimmer? Are you a fan of these types of  shadows? Are you picking up any of these or do you already have them?! How do you like them? Let me know!

Thank you so much for reading! Till next time!
