Makeup Favorites April 2018

It’s been a while since I’ve done a favorites post! As you might know, if you’re coming from my instagram page, I’ve been rotating my stash weekly. Because I’ve been rotating weekly I feel as though sometimes its a little unjust to pick favorites when I’ve only had about a week with them. However, there have been a couple of standouts that I just had to mention so that I can look back at my blog a year from now and compare, etc.

So let’s get started, shall we?!

Face:

Loreal Infallible Pro Matte powder is one I asked my friends on Instagram to help me pick out one day while at Wal-Mart. This one won and I’ve been enjoying using it. It does help minimize my oiliness and I love the finish of it. It’s a great powder at the price point it is. Ive also been absolutely loving my Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Powder in the shade Deep. It is absolutely stunning and it smells like the classic Chanel scent Ive come to know and love. I don’t really know why I waited so long to purchase it but I’m glad I finally started using it. It adds the perfect amount of warmth to the face without being too heavy. Lastly, I used my Stila Kitten Heaven’s Hue Highlighter about a week ago since I’d picked it up but hadn’t used it. Man, was I sleeping on this! The texture of it is bouncy to the touch and I used a MAC 159 brush to apply it. It was the perfect combo; a little bit of this highlight went a very long way. With a swipe or two I was able to cover my cheek bones, cupids bow, and inner corners to highlight.

Eyes:

One of my newest purchases that I was impressed with was the Pat McGrath Bronze Ambition palette (full review here). There is not one dud in this palette – they are all pigmented, creamy, and apply beautifully. I enjoyed using it when it was in my rotation. I used my Tartelette Toasted palette this month as well after not having used it in what felt like a long time. I found myself reaching for this palette over the others in the same rotation. I am a warm-toned shadow lover, I think they flatter me best, so I gravitated toward this palette the most. Some of the colors can be patchy when swatching and the glitter-infused shade did feel gritty, but Im still happy with this palette. I know some feel that the shimmers could be better, but for me, for work, they’re perfect. Last week, I had very strong feelings for peachy/pink eyeshadows and I have to give a shout out to my beloved Tom Ford Golden Peach cream shadow. It was my go-to shadow last summer and I feel that it might be a repeat hit this summer. I just love the shade of it and recommend it to anyone who wants peachy/pink lids. I think my absolute favorite palette of the past month and a half has got to be the Urban Decay Naked Petite Heat palette (reviewed here). I am such a fan of this little beauty and I feel like its got all the colors I would need to create my favorite eye looks. I prefer the shades in this palette to big Naked Heat palette.

Lips.

I received the Urban Decay Hi-Fi Shine glosses in PR and there were some that stood out for me. They are the shades Fuel, Cowgirl, and Fireball. I loved the nude/rosy tones to either wear on their own or pair with a lipstick. If you’re a nude lipgloss lover or prefer colored gloss, I would recommend this formula! I also really enjoyed using my NARS Lip Cover in Summer Fire this past month. It is a beautiful cool-toned pink gloss/liquid lip hybrid that I enjoyed using during my work weeks. My last lip favorite has to be the Bobbi Brown Art Stick that I rediscovered after decluttering half of my lipstick stash. It’s in the shade Rich Nude and I think it goes perfectly with my skin tone without having to mess with it to get it a good color. I love the art sticks and would recommend them for a no-fuss lip look.

Tools.

I have to give a shout out to two makeup brushes/tools that I really enjoyed using. The first one being the Sonia Kashuk Makeup Sponge that I reviewed here. I know the size may scare some people off, but I actually prefer the size of it now. I think its a great, affordable makeup sponge; soft, and easy-to-use. The second brush I rediscovered in my brush collection is the MAC 159 brush that I’ve been using with my highlighters. I bought this one many moons ago, it feels, but never found a use for it until now. I love them both and would recommend them!

These are all of my current makeup favorites. Do you see any you enjoy here? What are your current makeup favorites?! Let me know!

Thanks so much for reading!
