I’m here to provide quick thoughts on what items I liked and didn’t like from the first round of the Sephora Spring VIBR sale! You can read my initial haul post HERE. I always like hearing how people ended up liking the things they purchased and sometimes we don’t get an update (which I’m guilty of myself) but I figured I’d do one! So here we go!
The first thing I purchased was the Pat McGrath La Vie en Rose palette which I ended up really liking. Now, I read the reviews on Sephora on this palette before purchasing and to be honest there were some mixed reviews. Some liked it, others thought it was subpar. I also read a few reviews that said the palette smelled bad – and it does smell funny. However, I cannot smell it unless my nose is nearly touching the shadows. I cannot smell it any other times. I want to do a full review on it so ill reserve more detailed thoughts for later.
The second item I purchased was the Sunday Riley Influencer foundation. I really wanted to like this foundation, but I ran into some trouble with it. The first day I wore it, it completely separated from my t-zone (which is where Im the most oily) and I was shocked. This foundation is marketed for those with oily/combo skin and it was said to be of a medium-full coverage and matte finish. None of the above! The second day I wore it, I wore no primer and it was better, but I was very shiny by the end of the day. With the 100+ degree weather coming up, there is no way this is what id choose to wear. So back it went.
In its place I ended up getting the Ole Henrikson The Truth Serum. I’ve used it most mornings when I remember to apply it – and to be completely honest: I’m not super impressed with it so far. Ive read that it makes your face plump and hydrated and ready for makeup. While I do think it provides hydration, I find myself using 2-3 pumps to get that effect. Also, my face doesn’t feel plump lol. Im not really sure. Maybe I just need to get more use out of it, but right now its just okay. I do want to mention that there isn’t a serum I’m completely 100% on board with, so if youve got recommendations, please leave suggestions!
I was also able to get the Christophe Robin exfoliating hair detox when exchanging the foundation. I’ve used one of these before and absolutely love it. The IGK Mistress Hair balm and Ouai wave spray are repurchases and I talked about them in my initial haul post – they are great and I love them!
The Ouai set was one I picked up on a whim and I am completely loving all of the travel size sprays I got in there! The Texturizing Hair Spray and Dry Foam Shampoo will definitely be repurchases once I finish them. I love the dry shampoo, especially. The third item, the volume spray is nice as well but I haven’t used it enough to justify getting a full size just yet. It’s a really nice set if you’re into these items or need them for travel.
The Becca Hydra Mist Set & Refresh powder was something I picked up during round 2 of my haul, however I’m going on two weeks using it. I LOVE it. Aside from the cool feeling of it (which I think is cool!) I was able to try it out at my niece’s bridal shower. I did a full makeup look and was so impressed with how it held up those 5-6 hours. It blurred imperfections and looked great. I heard it oxidizes on some people but I don’t recall having that issue. I love it and would recommend checking it out!
The Erborian CC Creme wasn’t necessarily a Sephora pick-up, but I did apply to review it via Octoly and was accepted/sent it. I’ve been using this Creme for a week straight and I love it. It is marketed as a radiance cream but even with my oily skin I think it held up FAR better than the Sunday Riley foundation. For me it worked applying it with my Sonia Kashuk sponge and my fingers – they both applied the same. I was able to layer it on without it looking cakey or messing up. It held up through my 8+ Hour workdays. I’m a huge fan!
I wasn’t able to catch the BB Creme when it was available, but I am considering picking it up for the summer since it’s matte. I just don’t know if I should wait to get tanner or just get the medium shade.
Overall I was very happy with my items except for the Sunday Riley foundation. I did pick up other items during the spring sale so be on the lookout for a Sephora Haul part 2 blog post!
