August 2018 Favorites!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve written a blog post dedicated to my favorite beauty items. It’s actually a little hard sometimes to do them since I have enjoyed shopping my stash and rotating products since January. Can you believe I’ve actually kept it up for half the year?! There were some really great items I used this month so I felt I HAD TO post about them.

The first item I want to talk about is a concealer that was sent to me via PR. I had never received anything from First Aid Beauty so it was a pleasant surprise when I found these beauties waiting at my door step. The Bendy Avocado Concealer* is made with avocado that helps to nourish the skin. I use the shades 4 and 5 interchangeably and have to say, its the only concealer I’ve used this month. It does not dry out the under eye area, provides great coverage, and does not cake/crease over time. I really fell in love with it and am so glad it was sent to me because I would have had no idea about it! I don’t recall seeing it advertised much. If you’re on the market for a new concealer, this one is amazing!

I purchased the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter sometime around the end of July and began to use it throughout the month of August. This was a product I didn’t know I needed until I had it, and I’m telling you: if you like glowy skin, then you need this too! It’s not a foundation, it aids foundations in providing such a subtle, but beautiful glow to the skin. It’s unreal. I have been using it on the tops of my cheeks, over my eyebrows, and on my cupid’s bow for now since my skin is too oily, but come the weather change, I’m going to mix it into my foundation. I think I’ve got swatches somewhere on my Instagram in case you’re interested!

I tried several new palettes this month but my favorite were the Fenty Beauty Moroccan Spice palette and the KKW Beauty Classic Palette. The Moroccan Spice palette was just a breeze to use. I haven’t used every single shade, but I have used most and found myself reaching for this out of all the palettes I purchased before I got the Classic Palette.

The classic palette, which I reviewed in depth here, is just perfection. I will be the first to admit I didn’t think it would be that good, but it really is. The mattes are great and so are the shimmers. Application was a breeze. I recommend both of these!

My Hourglass Sheer Illume Trio was a makeup item I’ve had for YEARS and brought back out to use this month after seeing so many youtubers talk about it recently. I think I really like this cream product because it doesn’t feel sticky on the skin, it dries fairly quickly, but you’re still able to use your brushes to work it into your skin. The colors are deep enough to fit my medium skin… I just really enjoy using it. This would be a great item to get during the Sephora sale, especially since you’d save a couple of dollars!

Lastly, I have to give a shout out to two lipsticks I could not put down this month. They have been in my collection for a long time as well, but I don’t think I ever truly appreciated them the way I did this month. They are the MAC lipsticks in Jubilee and Pillow Talk. They have slightly different undertones: Jubilee is more pink and cool toned while Pillow Talk is a little more brown and has a warm undertone. They really just did the job this month. Didn’t matter what look I did, either lipstick was able to fit in with it really well. If you need to Back-to-MAC some items or are in need of a nude, I recommend either of these!

Well, there you have it! My favorites of the month… although if you are coming from my Instagram and like to watch my weekly reviews on Insta Stories, you’ll know that I really did enjoy using these this month. What were your favorites? I can’t believe tomorrow’s the first of September!! Anyway, talk to you soon!
