First Look: Colourpop Bare Necessities Palette & Brush Set!

I’m here to share with you a brand new launch by Colourpop: their beautiful all-Nude 30-pan palette Bare Necessities ($30)! Included in this collection is brush roll set that I will also talk about on here. They were kind enough to gift me this upcoming release, so I decided to show it to you and provide some swatches right before it launches!

First of all, let’s talk packaging! The 30 shades are housed in a light pink/rosey gold sturdy cardboard packaging. I feel it’s sturdy enough to travel with if you don’t mind traveling with a larger palette. It’s textured in the front which gives it a beautiful look and feel. The only thing missing in this would be a mirror; however I’m not one to use the mirrors that come in the palettes (I’d much prefer a bathroom mirror, etc) so it really isn’t an issue for me.

I do think you have to be a bit careful with how you handle the shadows since I got some of the color onto the packaging and made a mess trying to rub it off. What a bummer! It’s not a deal breaker but again, just an FYI if you don’t like your packaging to get dirty.

The first row in this palette has a row of cooler tones which I am digging! I’m usually not a fan but I cannot resist the shades in here!

I feel that the second and third row house your mid range warm and neutral tones – these can be used in the crease or outer corner to add some depth or smoke out your eye.

The last two rows are your definitive Smokey shades. With a mix of golds, bronzes, deep brown and silver.. these shades are going to take your look to the next level and I love that!

I do want to point out that a lot of the shades in the last row have those micro shimmers/glitter into what look to be matte shades. I know many people, including myself, have expressed dislike for that but they tend to disappear when applied on the eyes, so I will update once I use some of those shades! You can’t see the shimmer here though so that’s a good thing.

I’ve worn the shadows two days in a row. While I haven’t been able to test them all, I can say the shades I used were good. The mattes blended fine without disappearing or becoming muddy, and I was able to add and layer shimmers without a problem. I created a quick eye look one morning for work and I loved the way it turned out. I concentrated on mostly the top row with a medium matte.

Here’s a second look focusing on the plum shades in the palette. At first glance the shades may seem that they all look the same, but there’s a good variety of neutrals! I used All 4 U in the crease, Cufflinks in the inner 2/3 of the eyelid and Act a Fool to smoke out the look. See what I mean?!even more reason to love the palette! “Nude” does not mean just brown!

I decided to do one more look and photograph it for this review. On Thanksgiving I went for the gold and coppery shades in the palette. It received really good feedback on my Instagram page, and it was pretty simple to create. I love the versatility of this palette so much!

Overall, it’s a winner in my book! I’m such a sucker for neutral shades and this palette does not disappoint!

The Brush Roll Set

Along with the Bare Necessities palette is a new Brush Roll set that is releasing! It houses 14 different brushes: 3 face brushes and 11 eye brushes. I’ve never tried their face brushes before, but I am a huge fan of their eye brushes. They’re really soft and do a great job blending and packing, depending on the brush you pick out.

I think this would be a perfect set of brushes for someone who might not have a lot of them – they contain so many options to do crease work, detailed work, smoke out, and line. They are affordable and do a great job at creating eye looks. The packaging of these is just a plus. I love rose gold anything so these make me swoon!

This set retails for $35 but if you’re able to snag it during their Black Friday sale starting Thursday 11/28 at 8AM PST, I think the deal would be 30% off! I will adjust this post accordingly.

Are any of these items things you’re interested in?! Has anything caught your attention?! Please let me know!!
